Program Description

The Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation (BST) is launching a new call for applications for Civil Society Organizations and Groups from Armenia. The purpose of the call is to support civic initiatives in Armenia meant to support the democratic processes and citizen involvement in decision-making, as well as to address some of the obstacles in further democratic development of the country.

Eligibility:

Projects should be initiated by civil society organizations legally registered in Armenia, as well as informal groups and individuals. The involvement of additional partners, especially those from the wider Black Sea area and from the EU is possible and welcome.

Projects working in the following areas would be especially appreciated:

  • Fostering dialogue between citizens, civil society and public institutions, in order to provide expert opinion and analysis to central public authorities in setting Armenia’s policy agenda for reforms.
  • Creative ways to offer the population of Armenia information on the stages and progress of reforms.
  • Watchdog activities.
  • Election monitoring.
  • Initiatives that monitor and challenge disinformation and fake news.
  • Advancing media freedom and development of independent media.

Projects that include partnering of capital-based organizations with organizations that are outside of the capital are preferred.

Projects should be exemplary, make use of innovative outreach means and have a realistic and economical budget calculation.

The average grant will be $24,999 USD. Multilateral projects may exceed that amount in exceptional cases.

Duration

The minimum duration of a project is 6 months and the maximum duration is 12 months.

Selection

Decision about selection and funding of projects with a budget of maximum $24,999 will be taken by the end of September 2018.

Decision about selection and funding of projects with a budget above $24,999 will be taken by mid-October 2018.
