7.2 Tours: African American History Tour

 

Did you know Detroit has the largest African-American population in the United States? Did you know Detroit was the last stop on the Underground Railroad? Did you know Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech here in Detroit? Did you know the Nation of Islam was founded in Detroit? Black people have contributed to the growth and history of this city in ways that are undeniable. Highlights include: Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History, Ossian Sweet House, The Heidelberg Project, Historic First Congregational Church, Former site of the Finney Hotel & Barn, Central United Methodist Church.

Detroit Experience Factory: Discover Downtown Walking Tour 

 

Billions of dollars in development have happened along the Woodward Corridor in recent years and Downtown is at the epicenter of it all. On this tour you’ll see all the major developments as well as unique shops, one-of-a-kind restaurants and recently renovated residential options. You’ll also see some of Detroit’s great historical spots and its world renowned architecture. Depending on the tour we will either walk for the entirety or utilize the People Mover, so please dress accordingly.

Detroit Experience Factory: Explore Detroit – Coffee, Tea, and Chocolate 

 

Detroit is a food destination, but beyond extraordinary bars and restaurants, the city also boasts incredible confectionists and beverage connoisseurs. Come explore Detroit’s coffee, tea, and chocolate culture as we visit a local coffee roaster, tea house, and chocolatier.

This experience includes bus transportation, tours, and samples at each location.

The tour starts promptly at 11am. Please allow yourself a sufficient amount of time to find parking and arrive at the starting location.

Eastern Market "Come Hungry, Leave Happy" Tour

 

Delish Detroit (the culinary tour side of the business) will stroll from shed to shed and visit specialty stores to learn about unique products,hear fun facts and history of the area, while going behind the scenes and sampling various foods. We'll get to know local growers and vendors, their products and some tips for improving our health with Michigan foods. We'll also visit a jazz club, art collective or a letterpress shop. Find seasonal fruits, vegetables, and flowers, while eating your way through the market!

9:30am to 12:00pm (arrive at 9:15 to check in, tour begins promptly at 9:30)
