Workshop: Marshall to Me

1 min read

Seven decades after the Marshall Plan, GMF Berlin hosted a “Marshall to Me” workshop with young professionals to carry on the Plan’s spirit of fostering transatlantic cooperation.

With the values the Marshall Plan represents in mind, the workshop challenged participants to address questions related to the issues of our time:  Is the spirit of the Marshall Plan still vital and relevant to help us overcome crises? What kind of bold thinking do we need today? What does the Marshall Plan — its values and the international order it helped to create — mean for younger generations?

An increased feeling of being overwhelmed by crises, a growing disenchantment with politics around the world, and an alleged loss of faith in democracy are ascribed to younger generations. The Marshall to Me workshop, however, emphasized their optimism and willingness to strive toward international understanding and cooperative transatlantic action.
