About this event

Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine and its ongoing occupation of Georgian territory; NATO and EU enlargement; risks and opportunities in the Balkans and the South Caucasus; and supply chains and emerging technology—these are just some of the key issues that the United States faces in Europe.

On January 25, Assistant Secretary of State James O’Brien, who oversees US relations with Europe and Eurasia, spoke at GMF. His address, which was his first major domestic speech in his current role, previewed US priorities for the region in the new year and provided insight from his recent travels in Europe and discussions on Capitol Hill. GMF President Heather A. Conley moderated a conversation following the assistant secretary’s remarks.
