About this event

Climate Change Defense Cooperation Democracy Democratic Decline Domestic Politics and Society Foreign Policy Global Implications of China's Rise NATO Security and Geopolitics Technology and Democracy Transatlantic Relations Ukraine Reconstruction Balkans Baltics Central and Eastern Europe China European Union France Germany Poland Türkiye Ukraine United Kingdom United States

How do citizens in North America, Europe, and Turkey perceive today's key foreign and defense policy challenges? What does public opinion tell us about the state of the transatlantic relationship, and the role of the US and Europe in a changing world order? How do Americans and Europeans reflect on Russia's war on Ukraine, NATO, and China, and what does this mean for policymaking? As crucial EU and US elections approach, what are the points of convergence and divergence among transatlantic allies and partners?

The 2023 edition of the Transatlantic Trends, GMF's annual public opinion study, to be published on September 12, provides insights into public opinion in 14 countries on major issues of transatlantic policymaking, such as the global order, security, and defense. This event will explore the broader implications of the survey results for the short- and long-term future of the transatlantic relationship.
