About this event

On behalf of the Digital Innovation and Democracy Initiative, we invite you to join us on Thursday, December 16 at 2:30 p.m. EST/20:30 CET for a virtual event with U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas and European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson on “Confronting the Ransomware Threat: Transatlantic Opportunities and Challenges.”

The event follows the first meeting of the new U.S.-EU working group dedicated to tackling ransomware more effectively, and comes during the biannual meetings between EU Interior Ministers and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Justice. In Lisbon, Portugal last June, the U.S. and EU announced a dedicated focus on addressing the increasing threat posed by ransomware. This event will feature conversations moderated by Ambassador Karen Kornbluh, Senior Fellow and Director of Digital Innovation and Democracy at GMF and will include the opportunity for audience questions.

To attend this live virtual event, please RSVP here. Please reach out to Eli Weiner with any questions at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you there!
