Dr. Phil Budden

Dr. Phil Budden is a visiting senior fellow with GMF Technology and a senior lecturer in MIT’s Sloan School of Management Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy Group, where he focuses on tech innovation, multi-stakeholder ecosystems, and the impact of geopolitics.

Budden served as a British diplomat for two decades until 2013. He focused first on Britain's EU membership and key economic, financial, and technology policies, in part at the British embassy in Vienna, before being posted to Washington, DC and, after that, to Boston as consul general. In his decade as a diplomat in the United States, his focus was on transatlantic relations, including economic and business issues, technology security, international science and innovation links, and trade policy.
