Steve B. Irakoze
Program Manager for Diversity and InclusionSteve B. Irakoze is a Program Manager for Diversity and Inclusion in GMF's Leadership Programs. Based in the Paris office, he promotes GMF’s diverse portfolio of leadership development initiatives, focusing on the Transatlantic Inclusive Leadership Network. He is also a GMF DEI Advisory Group member, helping guide the organization’s diversity and inclusion performance. Prior to GMF, he worked on migration and human rights, racism and intersecting issues, LGBTIQ+ rights, and the rule of law at large with several French civil society organizations. He is a member of the Expert Group on the views of migrants at the European Commission, an advisory board providing expertise on policies in the field of migration, asylum, and integration. He is also a Fellow of African descent at the United Nations (UN) Human Rights office in Geneva, Switzerland, and has regularly engaged the UN human rights mechanisms, amplifying the voices of marginalized communities in France and Europe.
A native of Burundi, Irakoze has a bachelor’s degree in Law and a master’s degree in International Affairs from the Faculty of Law, Politics and Economics at University of Lille, France. He speaks French, English, Kirundi, and Kinyarwanda.
