Washington, DC (November 5, 2026) – In the next two years, voters in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Serbia, Spain, the United States and other countries will head to the polls for local and general elections. GMF will be tracking these races and their international impact through a new resource for elections being held between 2026 and 2028. The online hub will include expert analysis and event listings.

Beginning with the Serbian parliamentary election in October and the US midterms in November, GMF is providing pre- and post-election analyses and briefings that examine the major candidates’ policy positions and assess the implications of each electoral outcome for Europe, the United States, and the transatlantic relationship.

Six of the eight elections featured in the hub occur in countries where GMF has an office, with GMF fellows based in the countries where the other two elections take place. This local presence gives GMF experts greater insight into the campaigns and the implications of the outcome of the races.

Each country landing page, sets out the major candidates and their foreign policy positions. Each also offers analysis of the implications of the results within days of the vote. Decision-makers and other stakeholders will benefit from an understanding of the consequences for the transatlantic alliance, and for international security and trade.

For the US midterms, analysis is augmented by a public opinion survey, conducted with the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research GMF, on Americans’ views of the military, whose potential presence at voting locations became a topic of national discussion.
