Marshall Memorial Fellows - Washington Week 2016
The spring cohort of Marshall Memorial Fellows is on the road. Following a 5-day program in Washington, DC, the Americans and Europeans parted ways, and are now visiting 19 other cities, before the Americans end their program in Berlin and the Europeans conclude in New York City. By then, the 42 fellows in this cohort will have met more than 400 leaders across the U.S. and Europe, and will have reflected on their experience with structured debriefs, opinion pieces, and photo essays.
The German Marshall Fund is especially proud to announce the first ever Marshall Memorial Fellowship visit to London. A group of American fellows will be in the city from April 6 to 11. They will meet formally and informally with public, corporate, and NGO leaders, including former lord mayor of London, Dame Fiona Woolf; chief economist at the Bank of England, Andrew G Haldane; policy advisor to the prime minister, Daniel Korski; and group chief economist of BP, Spencer Dale, to name just a few. GMF has been selecting fellows from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland since 2010.

The Marshall Memorial Fellowship is GMF’s flagship leadership development program. Created in 1982 to introduce a new generation of European leaders to the United States, it now prepares leaders from both sides of the Atlantic for transatlantic relations. The program relies on 6 months of distance learning and 24 days of first-hand experience to facilitate knowledge and network development for effective transatlantic engagement. GMF awards 75 Marshall Memorial Fellowships each year to candidates from all sectors. The MMF alumni network numbers more than 2,500 leaders. Their transatlantic engagement continues throughout their careers with GMF alumni projects, seminars, and major events.
