“We have come out of the ashes of very dark times in history,” says GMF’s former Vice President Ivan Vejvoda. The Serb-national’s 40 year-career has spanned a stint in the army, time as a foreign policy advisor under President Dindic, and leadership of GMF’s Balkan Trust for Democracy in Serbia. An ardent campaigner of civil society rights, Vejvoda credits witnessing the remarkable political events of 1968 – from the student demonstrations in Paris to the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia – as equipping him with his political voice.
