About this event
Transatlantic Trends is a project co-led by the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) and the Bertelsmann Foundation (North America), Inc. (BFNA). It is a study of public opinion on global order, security and defense, emerging challenges, transatlantic relations, and the role of the EU and NATO, as well as relations with China and Russia. The 2022 edition of the survey was conducted in 14 countries (11 countries in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Türkiye) between June and July 2022. It offers both cross-country analyses and detailed demographic breakdowns of the data, and hence provides a deep dive into public opinion on the challenges facing the transatlantic relationship in the years to come.
How do publics on both sides of the Atlantic think about European security in times of war, and where do they see the role of the EU and NATO? On which issues do respondents want to cooperate or be tougher with China? How do transatlantic populations assess the state of democracy in their country? Ahead of the US mid-term elections, how do Europeans and Americans judge President Biden’s foreign policy and US influence in global affairs?
Join us for the launch event of the Transatlantic Trends 2022 for a deep dive into public opinion on both sides of the Atlantic!
