Sustainable and Living Cities programming explores the development of sites and systems that promote urban sustainability and livability while stimulating local and regional economies.

Cities and metropolitan regions in the United States and Europe have recognized that in order to compete globally, they must become more sustainable and resilient while also employing an integrated and systematic approach to urban development. GMF engages urban leaders in transatlantic dialogues to exchange knowledge and collaborate on potential solutions.

Though workshops, study tours, and peer exchanges, GMF brings together coalitions of public and private sector leaders for civic engagement in sustainable development processes; revitalizing older industrial or legacy cities; developing world-class open space systems; exploring the local implications of the energy transition; and smart cities.
