Powering Forward Initiative

Launched in 2026, the Powering Forward Initiative (PFI) is a multi-year project exploring the nexus of geopolitics and connectivity. It focuses on Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, and transatlantic perspectives, among other areas. PFI is designed to bring together experts and stakeholders from a wide range of sectors including energy, digital infrastructure, foreign and security policy, and finance.
PFI is a collaboration between GMF and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and is undertaken with the support of Greece’s PPC Group. Within GMF, the work is lodged within the South and Wider Europe Program and led from the organization's Brussels office. The project is a blend of convening and analytic activity, including a major annual conference in Brussels and private roundtables throughout the year. PFI fellows and GMF experts engage in research, analysis, and commentary on issues relevant to the nexus of geopolitics and connectivity.
The initiative is jointly led by the GMF South and Wider Europe Program in partnership with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), which leads the initiative's activities in the United States.
The Powering Forward Initiative is made possible through the generous support of the PPC Group. PPC is a leading Powertech Group in Central and Southeastern Europe that is engaged in Greece and the wider region’s energy and digital transition through strategic investments in energy and technology infrastructure.
