All Eyes on Germany — Forming a Government

Germans will head to the polls on September 24. The international context of the election is challenging. The values of the liberal postwar order are contested, the transatlantic alliance is facing turbulent times, and the future of the European project is unclear. As one of the biggest European economies, Germany is simultaneously viewed with hope as a leader for Europe and for the multilateral world order, as well as with anxiety as a major power in the heart of Europe. The federal elections have strong implications for the future of European, transatlantic, and global policies. Now more than ever, all eyes are on Germany.
